If you lead, learn to follow.

Submission isn’t submission until you disagree. This was a quote I heard when I was a young leader and it has stuck with me over the years. Often times we are afraid to share our dreams and plans with fathers and mothers in the faith for fear they’ll quash them. Sometimes their wise words take the wind out of our sails and feel like a blow. But it’s important to know great leaders are first great followers. It’s important to have those in your life who genuinely love you, and who want God’s best for you, so when you share your dreams, concerns or desires with them you know the counsel they give may be hard to hear but is crucial for growth. Surround yourself with those who are living their own dreams so they aren’t trying to live through yours. There is value in Godly counsel.
Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 15:22
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.
Proverbs 12:15
